The CKBL started play in 1959 and consisted of a few teams from eastern central Kentucky including the Red Devils, the Mount Olivet Demons, Mt. Sterling Hustlers, Estill County, and the Sherburne River Rats. The league was a semi pro league and played about 15 games each summer as a short season.
